Since February 2015 I am professor in Design Management, Torsten and Wanja Söderberg’s chair in design management at Gothenburg University. I’m therefore also head of the inter-departmental centre Business & Design Lab with research projects that faces the future challenges of the design industry from a management and design perspective but I would like to add also from a sustainability perspective.
My current research interest is design, strategy and creative processes for change and development. A recent project had a focus on management in creative and cultural industries, the role of leadership and the interaction between designers, and other functions in these kinds of companies. But I’m also interested in sustainability issues and for instance how new business models and brand communication can alter industries towards a more circular economy. I was until last year professor in fashion management at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and was then particularly interested in how fashion companies could develop into a more sustainable business, a huge challenge for an industry that has severe sustainable problems in all aspects. But many fashion companies are forerunners and could be of interest to other industries as well. Besides this I’m research editor of the Swedish Design Research Journal, a peer-review based journal published by the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation.
